2022, we love you.

Dear Cookie Lovers,

As we enter the New Year of 2022, I’m pondering the concept of two. When clients ask if I can make a favor with just one cookie, I sometimes jokingly say, “now that’s just mean”. As you know if you have had my cookies, you can’t eat just one. I feel that the name One Pink Cookie is slightly deceptive. We won’t sell just one cookie!  One Pink Cookie in every order is to remind me and hopefully you and your loved ones of the humble beginnings of our company, starting with only pink iced cookies that we created to help women and children in crisis. Still to this day we give to charities that help women and children in crisis. The pink cookie is a “wink” to that deeper purpose. It is also a nod to my own children who were raised at our kitchen island in Dallas. They loved the “thumbprints” so much, and my son swore that the pink just tasted better. So began the story of the One Pink Cookie.

As the new year begins and the old year fades, let’s ponder the wonder of two. One of my favorite verses says, “Two are better than one, for they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls, one can help the other up.” This verse is often read in weddings, such as the dozens of weddings we blessed this year with cookies, but it also applies to any group of two who are strengthening each other. I began the new year working with my youngest daughter Lizzy, which was such a huge blessing for me and our company. We literally quadrupled as she and I worked together! We also worked with a fabulous creative design company to revamp our website, Take Two Creative, again showing the power of two! I hired two interns, one of whom is still with us and invaluable to our mission. We made literally thousands of favor boxes of two cookies for weddings, showers, birthday parties and holiday tables. Most importantly, two of our sons got engaged and one got married in September! To watch him marry the love of his life was simply magical. His bride, my new daughter Reagan, chose blue cookie favors of two for her only wedding dessert. That’s my girl!

I started two new collaborations in 2021! One was with Caitlin Wilson who has been my client crush for years. She is the inspiration for our CW blush icing because her favorite pink is a barely blush and it plays so nicely with all her beautiful bespoke designs. She is my new part time boss as I play with her beautiful home design products at her store to make your homes more beautiful. She is also allowing our cookie lovers to pick up their flowers and cookies at her store, which is just across the street from Highland Park! It’s a match made in (blue) heaven. You must come join the fun! Two really are better than one.

The second new collaboration is with Josephine at A Table,

Her mission is to bring the family back to the dinner table. She is allowing her customers to buy holiday gift boxes in her market to have for dessert or give as teacher gifts. We are so honored to be a part of her beautiful work and adorn your loving tables. I met Josephine through Caitlin Wilson. Don’t you just love the beautiful symphony formed when creatives collaborate? More on that in my Valentine’s blog…. Hint, Hint, Mary the Curious Cowgirl and her vintage treasures will be back and filled to the brim with delightfully decorated cookies!

Enough pink musing for today! Thank you so much, cookie lovers. Two are better than one and I could not have made it through this year without you. Also, a big thank you to Big Man Little Cookie. You are my everything and I truly could not succeed without your help and enthusiastic cookie tasting. As I fry the bacon for our hoppin’ john, I wish you all joy in the new year.

I’ll end with a quote from the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He will be so missed. This is from his life changing book, The Book of Joy.

“Generosity is the best way to become joyful. The dead sea in the Middle East receives freshwater, but it has no outlet, so it doesn’t pass the water out. It receives beautiful water from the rivers, and the water goes dank. And that is why it is the Dead Sea. It receives and does not give. In the end, generosity is the best way of becoming more, more, and more joyful.”

Stay generous, stay pink,

Sarah
