The Secret is Out!
After 14 delicious years of buttercream dreams coming true, I am passing the One Pink Cookie spoon to the dearest new owner, Frances Jones.
As I “pink” back, I’m struck by how One Pink Cookie, “OPC,” has grown and flown from its inception until now. I have always used cookies and flowers to say thank you so words fail as I try to share everything that you and this business have meant to me and my family.
From the first loving nudge by a friend in Palm Beach (paired with her gift of a bubblegum pink handbag inspiring our signature color), to our first donation of pink cookies to Genesis Women’s Shelter, to our first Birthday favor job, to the first Facebook post by an enthusiastic party goer, along with orders, events and donations, this business has meant everything to me. It sent us to Zambia five times with Family legacy, employed darling students, including my own kids, and provided for our family. It’s kept me blushing. Speaking of blushing, I met my husband of almost ten years through the cookies – what a gift indeed!
Orders of exclusively pink cookies turned into three dozen styles for each holiday; however, we always included One Pink Cookie to remind us of the women and children helped by each purchase. The original tagline read, “helping women and children one pink cookie at a time.” I feel we have accomplished that goal. The bake sales, fundraisers, collaborations with Draper James, Caitlin Wilson, Elizabeth Erickson Designs, A Model Patient, Highgate House (now Cozy Your Nest), Highland Park Village, The Curious Cowgirl and countless others have enriched our lives in ways that cannot be measured.
Our customers have been wonderful! Our “buttercream team” helped us provide cookies and florals to your homes and events and to make them with Love. One Pink Cookie has graced the resume of many sweet cookie helpers, including my own children.
In 2020, we revamped our website with the help of Take Two Creative and changed our tagline to showcase the secret ingredient in our cookies – love. “The secret ingredient is always love” has been our motto for the last five years, and we know you have felt this in every order.
Now it’s time – the One Pink Cookie family recipe is going into the capable hands of a new baker and entrepreneur. Our recipe has been fiercely protected for all these years, but now we are sharing it with our new owner, Frances Jones.
Frances and I have worked together at Sue Sartor where she serves as a manager. Her delight as cookie lovers came in to pick up orders and her curiosity about my fun business led her to purchase One Pink Cookie and become Chief Cookie Creator!
Frances is a fabulous innovator and creative. She and I have become great friends and have been training together and trading secrets for months. Starting in April, Frances will be the OPC official new owner. Our team is very excited to help her keep One Pink Cookie, the secret recipe, and your floral and cookie orders flowing seamlessly into your loved ones’ hands.
After that, Big Mike and I will fly south to Savannah, Georgia, after our last little “cookie” leaves the nest! It is bittersweet to leave Dallas, my small but mighty cookie business, and fabulous clients and friends. I will continue to provide florals through Sarah Hopkins Designs in our new home (and here on occasion) but will dearly miss the smell of the melt-in-your-mouth marvels in my kitchen.
One Pink Cookie set out to help women and children “one pink cookie at a time” fourteen years ago, but I believe the woman most helped was me. The things I have learned and earned, the kind words and challenges, the prayers and the new friends have made me the strong woman I am today. Thank you so much cookie lovers!
Please know that when you see a pink sunset, I am “pinking” of you. Pink Skies Ahead for Frances, for me, and for you dear cookie lovers.
Stay Pink,
Sarah
